About KATIE

Owner, Creative Director

strategic thinker, a solver of problems, and a caring Mum who enjoys a late night hoon on the old Bernina sewing machine.

How long has lightbox been around and what was the inspiration for its creation?
Lightbox Creative was established in 2006 and I was a spring chicken saving the world one piece of artwork at a time. The studio space came along a few years later and was something I believed was imperative for creative professionals to have, I ensured this was a safe space which encouraged and embraced experimentation whilst remaining connected to commercial realities. By going out into the world and engaging, observing and listening we return to the studio feeling engaged and inspired to create. ‘A safe space’ is still an ethos we maintain today in the studio.

What is your professional purpose?
Today my purpose is to be supportive and critical all in one, I’m a listener, a thinker, a challenger and a helper. I love seeing growth in people and get joy from the ‘aha’ moment when a project comes to fruition or you can sense after a workshop that everyone’s on the same page. I like to understand what it’s like from someone else’s perspective and seeing if we can get things to line up so it’s a comfortable fit which allows growth of everyone.

What challenges have you faced and how have you embraced and learnt from them?
Becoming a mum. This was another process of letting go which allowed significant growth for myself and the team. It was painful and exciting all in one. It was like becoming a teenager and seeing the world through new adolescent eyes all over again and it took a good settling time to adjust to my new role both within the home and the studio.

What gets you excited about the future for the studio?
We really love working with our awesome clients and we’re grateful to work with such real people!

We heard you’re looking for a new designer, what do you look for in new team members?
We’re a harmonious bunch,  being a ‘good sort’ and having a curious mind would be high on my list.

About Georgie

Studio Manager and Senior Designer

Our resident jack of all trades (how do you say, Traffic Controller, Designer, Stylist, Photographer, Art Director and InDesign help desk in one?)

How long have you been with Lightbox Creative and what attracted you to the role?
I have worked at Lightbox Creative since early 2012, and love the diversity and flexibility that working in a smaller studio provides. The work is constant, fast paced, always evolving and changing, no two days are the same.

What has been your biggest accomplishment since joining Lightbox?
Too many to count now, every day a new challenge presents itself but definitely moving from a Senior Designer role into an Art Directing and Studio Management position, has been a huge accomplishment.

What gets you out of bed every morning?
A long black whilst checking out the latest trends.

How long have you been with Lightbox Creative and what attracted you to the role?
I was approached by Lightbox Creative nearly four years ago and time has flown.
The opportunity to work on some big clients and highly conceptional projects was too hard to resist.

What has been your biggest accomplishment since joining Lightbox Creative?
Being a part of the team has given me the courage and support to grow as a designer, gaining new skills and an understanding of the creative design process.

What gets you out of bed every morning?
My 6am gym sessions and a purring cat in my face.

About Phill

Senior Designer

A passionate Senior Designer, maker of great cups of tea and a family focused Dad who loves spending time with his kids.

How long have you been with Lightbox Creative and what attracted you to the role?
Two years ago I made the move from a city-based agency and it didn’t take me long to feel right at home. The chance to develop new software skills enticed me. Some days I jump from Illustrator, to making a brew, to painting a studio set, then back to InDesign.

What has been your biggest accomplishment since joining Lightbox Creative?
Each time a project is completed and both the client and yourself walk away happy and excited, is a huge accomplishment.

What gets you out of bed every morning?
Primarily, the kids. Secondly, the Studio’s Spotify playlist. Last, but not least, my list of never-ending DIY projects.
